prayers for my children

lately i have really been focusing on my prayer life. the Lord is showing me the importance of spending time with Him, not only in His word, but also in prayer. its vital that i take my needs, desires, struggles & praises to Him. i want to be intentional in my prayer life. i don't want to only offer up sunday school prayers with general requests. i want to pray scripture back to Him & beg Him to move in specific ways for me, ben, our children, our families, ministries & friends.

i have come across a few helpful guides in praying specifics for Ben & our kids. since i don't have the entire bible memorized, (how awesome would that be?!) i love having a list of a few scriptures to pray for my family.

as i learn more about prayer & become more addicted to it, i want to share more verses that help me pray on a more personal level. i believe the best thing i can do for my husband & children is to be an intercessor, on their behalf, to the Father. i want to cover them in prayers, each day. and i truly think it will help me to love them more & serve them with a willing heart.

Acts 19:20......I thank you Father that Your Word prevails over our children.
Isa 54:13........That they are taught of the Lord and continue to be
Prov 13:1........the fruit of godly instruction and correction.
Isa 54:13........Great is their peace and undisturbed composure.
Prov 2:6.........Father, give us counsel and wisdom in bringing up our children.
1Pet 1:14........I say they are obedient, not conforming to the things of the flesh,
1Pet 1:15........but holy, in all conduct.
1Pet 2:2.........desiring the pure milk of the Word that they may grow thereby.
Jas 1:19.........That they are swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath.
Heb 13:5........Their conduct is without covetousness,
Heb 13:5........and they are content with what they have.
Heb 13:16.......They do not forget to do what is right and to share.
2Pet 3:18........I pray that they grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord,
1Thes 4:1.......and abound more and more in how they should walk and please You.
1Pet 5:5.........That they submit to their elders, and to one another,
1Pet 5:5.........being clothed with humility.
1Pet 5:7.........That they cast their cares upon You, Father, for You care for them.
Jas 1:22.........I thank You that they are doers of the Word, and not hearers only,
Ph'm 1:6........effectively sharing their faith.
2Tim 1:7 .......not having a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.
2Tim 1:9........Father, You have saved them and called them with a holy calling,
2Tim 1:9 .......not according to works, but according to Your own purpose.
2Tim 4:18......Deliver them from every evil work and preserve them.
John 10:5 .....They will by no means follow strangers, not knowing their voices.
2Tim2:22 ......They abide with others who call on the Lord out of a pure heart,
Jas 3:10 ........and cursing comes not out of their mouth.
1Jn 5:18 ........Because Jesus keeps them safe, the wicked one does not touch them.
Ps 91:11........Give Your angels special charge to accompany, defend, preserve
Ps 4:8...........and provide safety for them, day and night.
1Jn 2:5 .........Because they keep Your Word, Your love is being perfected in them.
1Jn 2:15 .......They do not love the world or the things in the world,
3Jn 1:11........and they do not imitate what is evil, but what is good.
1Jn 1:7 .........They walk in the light as You are in the Light,
Jas 4:8 .........cleansing their hands and purifying their hearts,
2Tim 2:22 .....They follow after righteousness, faith, love, and peace.
Heb 13:18......They have a good conscience and desire to live honorably,
Prov 3:4 ........having favor and high esteem with God and man.

isn't this neat?! i'll be honest, i don't always pray every scripture on this list every single day. but i do try to pick out several & focus on them. i try to cover every scripture in a week. i got this from www.prayingscriptures.com and its been pretty helpful. i don't think its essential to have a list of scripture, but it definitely helps you to be specific & its a great way to learn the bible.

i want to be a prayer warrior for my kids. i want them to know that i am always thinking of them, and loving them by going to the Lord & asking Him to move in their lives.

so thankful for my kids & so thankful for the Word.

Sanctity of Human Life Sunday

i read on someone's blog that tomorrow is Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. and i immediately thanked the Lord for my children. and it broke my heart for the millions of babies whose lives have been brutally ended b/c of the wicked, satanic action of abortion. i could go on for days and days about abortion & my HATRED for it. but, i won't. we all know its a sin against God. and its disgusting, infuriating, selfish, unnecessary & wickedly violent. but, i'll stop there.

i've always known that all human life is sacred, precious & important in the eyes of God. but now that i'm a mother, i truly understand that in such a different capacity. my children are a blessing. and i do NOT take my role as their mother lightly. it is my greatest responsibility (outside of living for Jesus & loving my husband). i believe in my heart that God has a plan for their little lives. He created them for a purpose. He has things that He wants them to do & its our job as their parents to teach them how to love Jesus & to serve Him faithfully.

i do not believe in accidents when it comes to the Lord. a human life may be created out of a terrible or sinful action or situation, but it is still a human life. knitted and formed by God and valuable in His sight. whether the baby is handicapped or diseased, the Lord created him/her for a reason. and its up to Him alone how long each heart should beat. i know there are crazy medical conditions & hard times where people must make hard decisions. but He alone is the giver & taker of life.

praying that we, as a nation, stomp out abortion. and that every life is considered as precious to us as it is to Him.

thank the Lord for your children. pray for those that are desperately trying & pleading with Him to bless them with a child. pray that His hand of protection will be on the unborn.

"I will give thanks to You, for i am fearfully and wonderfully made;
wonderful are Your works
and my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you,
when i was made in secret,
and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;
your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
and in Your book were all written
the days that were ordained before me
when as yet there was not one of them."
Psalm 139: 14-16

update on sara sullivan

i just read the sullivan blog. sara went home to be with the Lord today. she is finally healed. please continue to pray for her husband, brady & her newborn baby girl, chloe. i do not know this couple but my heart is broken for this family. i don't understand the Lord's will sometimes but i know His hand is always at work. and He is ALWAYS good. brady posted this verse at the end of his post about sara's death:

" i lift my eyes unto the hills, where does my help come from? my help comes from the Lord they maker of heaven and earth." Psalm 121: 1-2

PLEASE PRAY FOR SARA

i stumbled upon a blog last night. someone left me a comment on my last post telling me i should go to this site & pray for this family immediately. of course, i went to the blog. i read back to the beginning. it is the story of the Sullivan family.

brady & sara sullivan are a young couple. Sara found a lump in her breast & was later diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. (it has a specific name but i can't remember it). during her testing & biopsy process the doctors discovered that she was pregnant. she delivered their baby girl, chloe grace, 2 weeks ago. chloe was over 6 weeks premature. they had recently brought chloe home from the hospital when sara had a seizure. she was admitted to the hospital where she has been watched closely. i can't remember every single detail. i know she has been in a drug induced coma so the doctors could test her without causing more seizures. last night, her hubby brady, posted that the doctors believe sara is now brain dead. you can go to their blog: bandssullivan.blogspot.com to read all about her story & her condition. the last post from brady was last night & he said that the doctors were going to do a few more tests but if there was no improvement today then they would officially declare her brain dead & take her off of life support. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pray that God would do a miracle & sara would recover. i can't imagine what brady must be going through. his young wife is dying and he has a newborn baby at home. he needs the peace of Christ right now. we know we serve a BIG God who is able to move & work in the life of this sweet family.

please pray for them & thank the Lord for health that you enjoy. you can click on her button on the right hand side of my blog and it will take you to her husband's blog. thank you.
